Automatic System Development of Feeding Slag-Forming Mixture in Crystallizer CCM-2 JSC “Ural Stell”

Abstract


The use of slag-forming mixtures allows to protect the surface of liquid metal in the crystallizer of the continuous casting machine. This leads to an improvement in the conditions for the formation of ingots. The absence of an automatic supply system for the slag-forming mixture affects the magnitude of the frictional forces between the crust of the continuous ingot and the walls of the crystallizer, the conditions of heat transfer. This negatively affects the quality of the ingot surface. In this paper, a functional scheme of the slag-forming mixture feeding system in the mold of a continuous casting machine has been developed. As a parameter that is used to regulate the supply of slag-forming sweep, the difference in temperature between metal and slag is used. The algorithm for feeding the slag-forming mixture into the crystallizer is presented. Based on it, a program for the Simantic S7-300 controller was developed. The blocks of the program implemented in LAD are represented. The economic substantiation of the proposed project is given.
