Using of the Static Var Compensator of the Ultra-High Power Electric Arc Furnace for Supporting of Electrical Power System’s Stability and Increasing Reliability of Factory Power Supply

Abstract


The paper includes main information about the static var compensators which work at the electric arc furnaces’ electric power supply systems. As an example of SVC 330 Mvar for the EAF-250 of CJSC “MMK Metalurji” (Iskenderun, Turkey), possibility of use of the SVC for voltage drops decreasing in 34.5 kV power grid and increasing power plants’ synchronous generators stability are considered.
