Compensation of the Axial Component of the Cutting Force when Tapping

Abstract


Based on the established relationship in the analytical form of dynamic characteristics, geometrical and structural parameters of the cutting tool, mathematical model has been developed that allows to determine the variation of the axial component of the cutting force as the insertion of the tap into the workpiece. Design scheme of axial forces acting on the main and auxiliary cutting blade cutting elementary profile is shown. In order to validate the theoretical calculations carried out a comparative analysis of the results of the numerical experiment and the known experimental data on the influence of the parameters of the cutting part of the tap (the entering angle and pitch) on the dynamic characteristics of the process of threading. As an example of an algorithm for the calculation and selection of the elastic member for threading cartridges to compensate for the effect of excessive axial component of the cutting force.
