Electron-beam Valves for High-voltage Ppulse Devices

Abstract


Electron-beam valves new class of high-voltage vacuum devices with extremely low forward voltage drop anode-cathode in an open state at high operating voltages 50..200 kV by using as the anode cylinder Faraday and direct currents 50...2 A. Valve has pentodes volt-ampere characteristic. Pulsed currents with pulse duration up to 3 µs and duty cycle over 100 pounds more. The lifetime is determined by the time of the oxide cathode. Almost at the optimum filament voltage up to 20...30 thousand hours, the theoretical limit to 100 thousand hours. The developed design of the three types of electron-beam valves at 200 kV, 2A (ELV 2/200), 100 kV, 50 A (ELV 50/100) and 40 kV, 4A (ELV 4/40). Shows a graph of the comparison of ELV with other types of electron-beam devices from the point of view of their efficiency in switching mode DC high voltage.

The proposed universal circuit computer model of the electron-beam device or valve, allowing a high degree of accuracy to simulate the operation of the valve in any high-voltage electric circuit in pulsed or steady-state modes of commutation at operating voltages. Presents in graphic form the results of simulation of operation of the valve ELV 2/200, ELV 50/100 and ELV 4/40 in the scheme of switching the high voltage on the active load. From the graphs it is apparent that the simulation corresponds to the operation of the valve in pentodes mode.
