Conditions for the Effective Use of the Cutting Tool, Hardened by a Laser Pulsed Radiation

Abstract


Complex research of the influence of laser processing regimes and cutting modes on the durability of hardened tool indicates on the field of efficient use of laser treatment. In particular, at the fixed irradiation energy the durability growth is observed only for certain values of the depth of cut. The causes of the observed phenomena were determined according to durometric researches. The measurements of microhardness performed on the end clearance face of the straight turning tool (steel R18) after turning structural steel 12Kh2N4A under various cutting modes for the tool in the initial state and after laser hardening. The interconnection of the wear of hardened tool with the cutting modes and laser treatment regimes was installed. It is shown that the processes of softening of the tool material, that observed when turning with high feed values, limits the scope of cutting conditions hardened tool. The measurement of deformation characteristics in the contact zone after the end of the process of turning allowed to install this.
